That little wonder of the wood
Somewhere a purple patch stood.
No one saw it, the log lay
While thousands passed it everyday.
Snow and dust and rains and storms
Homing squirrels and dozen worms.
That little wonder of the wood
Somewhere a purple patch stood.
One day, cries of wonder do echo
Shout aloud or round it on tip-toe.
Near and far spread the word
Amazed the man, amused the bird.
That little wonder of the wood
And just that little wonder stood.
